senate

The UBCA Senate is the official policymaking body of the United Black Collegiate Association. Each month, senators from registered Black student organizations gather to discuss funding requests, shape programming priorities, and pass legislation that impacts the Black student experience at UT Austin.

WHAT DOES THE SENATE DO?

Votes on UBCA funding, co-sponsorships, and legislation

Shapes community priorities through official statements

Collaborates with the Executive Cabinet and BPLC

Trains future leaders in student governance and advocacy

Senators serve as the link between their organization and UBCA, making sure your voice is heard at the table.

The Senate meets once a month during the Fall and Spring semesters.
(Active participation is required for your organization to maintain benefits.)

HOW TO JOIN

You must represent an organization.
UBCA does not accept self-appointed senators.

Here’s how to get involved:

  1. Find a UBCA umbrella organization

  2. Ask if you can serve as their senator

  3. If they're recruiting, they'll share their senator application or appointment process

Is your org not an umbrella organization yet?
It’s FREE to register with UBCA, and doing so grants your org access to grants, storage, mail service, Black Inauguration, and more.
